Cultural and organisational transformation

Our vision of corporate culture

Corporate culture is the driving force behind how organisations operate. It affects every facet of an organisation’s life.

Culture is both the root and the compass of a company, because it anchors an identity and enables us to discern the direction to take from among all the possible options.

We can work to develop, re-evaluate and develop a corporate culture. But a corporate culture cannot be decreed: it has to be built through what is lived at the heart of the organisation.

It’s something that ‘transpires’ from the operational and relational reality of each employee.

The culture is what remains in the operational reality, once the communication and training actions have disappeared.

An organisation’s culture is based on 5 constituent elements that have a decisive impact :

  • Vision : defined by the three concepts of Purpose, Values and Ambition.

The vision guides action and provides a framework for implementation. It is the foundation of a company’s culture.

  • Practices : these are the operational and relational manifestations of the company’s values. The values proclaimed are only of interest if they are put into practice on the ground.
  • Individuals : a culture only really exists through the men and women who embody it. Culture is disseminated and reinforced through everyday exchanges.

That’s why we believe that management at all levels is an essential vector in the propagation and evolution of the culture.

  • History : every company has a unique story that sets it apart. Knowing how to tell it through its genesis, how and why we are here, is an important criterion for strengthening and anchoring the company.
  • Location : the environment has a decisive impact on the behaviour and attitudes of a company’s employees. It has a direct influence on the way we are and the way we do things.

The keys to successful cultural transformation

Cultural transformation stems from an intention and a desire to change the way a company knows and does things, in order to create the conditions for organisational performance: enabling employees to deploy their potential and develop it in line with a clear, shared vision.

This means revisiting the company’s history and its values, to redefine its distinctive point of balance made up of operational and relational benchmarks: priorities, accepted, valued or rejected ways of doing things.

A successful transformation must be accompanied at different levels of the organisation and the system (individuals, teams, collectives, projects, formal and informal networks, etc.).

We have identified 3 essential factors for sustainable cultural transformation:

  • Aligning the organisation’s stakeholders with the vision and embodying its framework to inspire and lead by example

  • Strengthening the role of managers in the operational and relational deployment of values: clarifying and unfolding values into concrete and coherent actions

  • Developing a group effect, encouraging informal interaction and the sharing of experience

Develop your corporate culture

Transforming a company or its organisation often means changing its culture.

However, acting on processes is not enough: habits need to be changed. The stakes are high, because these are often unconscious and deeply rooted ways of doing things that cannot be changed overnight. We are convinced that by defining a clear and coherent vision, then allowing the new habits to take root and spread, we can best succeed in changing it.

At Axys, we offer a 3-stage itinerary that focuses on 3 fundamental aspects of culture that we believe are essential:

  • Building a clear, shared vision to clarify and set a clear course
  • Modelling values into concrete practices based on markers of operational and relational excellence
  • Accompanying individuals on their learning journey to make the new markers of their culture their own

To accelerate the deployment and spread of a new culture, we rely on the collective effect. We draw on a range of practical tools and tried-and-tested facilitation methods to create bold, creative group sessions dedicated to sharing and learning the distinctive elements of the new culture.
